Click here to view round 4 highlights of Lottie's win
Every now and then, the golfing world is treated to a performance so special, it reminds us all why we fell in love with this game in the first place. This past weekend, at the Women’s Irish Open, we witnessed one of those moments, and the performance didn't come from a seasoned tour veteran, but from a young amateur named Lottie Woad, who claimed victory by a stunning six-shot margin, so not only did she win the event. She dominated it.
Woad fired four consecutive rounds in the 60's and just three bogeys all week on her way to a 21-under-par winning score, showing composure beyond her years and status throughout the week as she left seasoned Ladies European Tour players such as Madelene Sagstrom and Charley Hull in her wake to take the title.
While she may not be a household name quite yet, Lottie Woad rose to fame in 2024 when she won the Augusta National Women's Amateur tournament and rose to number one in the World Amateur Golf Rankings just a few weeks later, and invitations to the LPGA Major Championships where she secured a Top 10 result at the Women's British Open. Quite a year by anybody's standards, all while juggling college life!
Whether you’re putting in some practice after work or college, or just looking to shave a few shots off your next score, we can all take some inspiration from Lottie and work on our game, and we're always available to lend a helping hand, so be sure to come and see us!
