Paul McAvoy (5 hcp) from Harpenden Golf Club (pictured receiving the trophy from Farnham's Captain Bill Talbot) won Farnham's Men's Open The Silver Frigate with a net score of 140 in a closely contested competition. The course offered a fair test for some of the County's finest players with a 72 CSS for the morning which increased to a 73 CSS in the afternoon amid an ever increasing wind. McAvoy was always going to tough to catch after posting a net 67 in the morning, Ajay Patel (2 hcp) from Royal Wimbledon was close on Paul's heels with a net 69, Ajay's score should have been one better but unfortunately he had signed for a 4 at the 13th hole instead of a 3. In third place at the halfway stage was Farnham's Paul Lewis (6 hcp) with a net 70.

The afternoon proved to be a much sterner test with the wind rising and the course drying out, however it was Farnham's Jack Millgate (5 hcp) who fought his way through the field and carded a fine net 69 for a total of 141. This proved to be one shot short of victory as Paul McAvoy hung on to register a net 73 in the afternoon and a total of 140. Steven Went (6 hcp) from Banstead Downs finished in third place on 143.

The Scratch competition produced some fine scores most notably a 3 under par 69 in the morning by Mark Booker (+2 hcp) from Royal Wimbledon, Mark went on to post 146 for the two rounds but it was to be David Kemp (1 hcp) from Merrist Wood who would steel the glory in the scratch division carding a total of one under par 143 with consistent rounds of 72 and 71. In third place was Tom Hayes (+1 hcp) from West Byfleet on 147.
